How do I register to bid?

How much is the buyer’s fee if I win?
There are no buyers fees when using Car & Classic Auctions! What you bid is what you pay (no extras).
What happens if I win an auction and how does payment work?
Once you have successfully won an auction we ask that money is paid to a secure escrow account via bank transfer only. The funds will then be released when both the buyer and seller have confirmed vehicle handover on their Car & Classic user dashboards. Payments into our escrow account can take up to 1 business day for UK transfers, or 3-5 business days for international transfers.
Can I pay by card?
No. All auctions must be paid via bank transfer. This is for the safety and security reasons.
How do I collect the car?
Once the buyer has transferred their funds the buyer and seller will then be put in touch with each other to arrange collection of the car at a time that suits both.
What do you mean by “no sniping”?
Auctions will be extended for 10 minutes if a bid is made within the last 2 minutes to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to bid again if they have been outbid.
How do you ensure bidders are serious, and "tyre-clickers" removed?
We hold a small charge against a buyer's registered card who have successfully bid to ensure that we only get the most enthusiastic bidders. The bidding deposit is returned to all losing bidders at the end of the auction and held against the winning bidder until the funds have been transferred.
Why is there a hold on my card?
We hold a small charge for each successful bidder to deter wasteful bidders and to ensure all our potential buyers are of a serious nature. This is returned in full at the end of the auction unless you are the winning bidder where the hold will be returned once full payment has been received in to the Car & Classic escrow account.
How does bidding work?
There are 2 ways to bid on a Car & Classic Auction. You can either place the minimum bid required or take advantage of our max bid system.
To enter a minimum bid, simply type the minimum allowed value into the bidding box and press “Place your max bid”. You will then be notified by email should you be outbid!
What are Max bids?
Car & Classic’s max-bid system is designed to take the hassle out of bidding! Simply type your maximum bid into the bidding box, and press “Place your max bid”. Car & Classic will then bid on your behalf, up to your max bid, in the minimal increments.
If your max bid is below the reserve price, you'll bid that amount if you are the highest bidder. If your max bid is above the reserve price, we will only go up to the reserve itself.
Car & Classic will then bid on your behalf, using the increments below, up until your max bid is reached.
£0 to £10,000
£10,000 to £50,000
If you place a max bid and are outbid immediately, that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can then bid again, and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Can anyone bid?
As long as you have a valid debit or credit card you can bid on a Car & Classic auction.
How do I find out more about a particular car?

Can I trust the description?
The Car & Classic auctions descriptions are written by our in house editorial team with up to date information about the vehicle provided directly from the seller of the vehicle. All our listings are subject to a full Cazana History Data Check to check for an adverse history. The ultimate responsibility for the listings falls to the seller.
What protection do I have if the car is not as I had hoped?
Car & Classic will launch an investigation to see if the vehicle meets the description or not.
How do I update my credit card information?
You can update your payment details through the Car & Classic user dashboard.
